84 THE CONCLUSIVE ARGUMENT الأرضين، فإن السموم إذا أضرت فلا | and deadlier than that of تضر إلا الأجسام، وأما كلامهم فيضر الأرواح ويُهلك العوام، بل ضررهم أشد وأكثر من إبليس اللعين يلبسون Iblis, the accursed. They con- fuse truth with falsehood and draw swords of deceit like a murderer and insist on their own words even if they are in manifest error. Therefore, seek الحق بالباطل، ويسلون سيوف refuge with Allah from them المكر كالقاتل، ويُصرون على كلمات خرجت من أفواههم وإن كانوا على خطأ مبين فاستعذ بالله منهم ومن and their words and keep away from them and their igno- rance. And be with the truth- ful ulema. Do not mock the intuitive states of the Auliya' and the secrets revealed to the كلماتهم واجتنبهم وجهلاتهم، وكن elect, for they are the manifes مع العلماء الصادقين ولا تضحك على مواجيد الأولياء، والأسرار التي كشفت على تلك الأصفياء ، فإنهم tations of divine light and the fountains of Rabbul-'alamin [the Lord of all the worlds]. Know that they are truthful in every circumstance and pro- tected [from sin] in all actions مظاهر نور الله وينابيع ربّ العالمين and deeds. They are bestowed واعلم أنهم قوم صادقون في الأحوال as cannot be comprehended والمحفوظون في الأفعال والأعمال، ويُعلمون من أشياء لا يعلمها عقل with such knowledge of things by the intellect of the ulema. They are granted such knowl- edge as is not granted to any intellectual. Only he rejects العلماء ، ويُعطون من علم لا يُعطى them who is touched by Satan
