21 THE NEWSPAPER AL-LIWA' & A HEAVENLY SIGN al-Qasidatul-Ijāziyyah which I have reproduced in the footnote¹ of this page. I composed this Qasidah only for the people whom Allah defeated through the sign [of the plague], and it is these people alone that I have addressed so as to bring the matter to a close. I have also given names of some of these people in the Qasidah so that my claim does not remain obscure from those who are possessed of insight and are just. By Allah, not even a month had passed since the publication of these prophecies when 1. These verses are being reproduced here from pages 58 and 63 of my book, I jāz-e-Ahmadi:* إِذَا مَا غَضِبْنَا غَاضَبَ اللَّهُ صَائِلًا عَلَى مُعْتَدٍ يُؤْذِي وَبِالسُّوْءِ يَجْهَرُ When I become angry at a person, God too becomes angry at him; Who crosses the limit and is intent on manifest evil. وَيَأْتِي زَمَانٌ كَاسِرٌ كُلَّ ظَالِمٍ وَهَلْ يُهْلَكَنَّ الْيَوْمَ إِلَّا الْمُدَمَّرُ The time is coming when He will destroy every wrongdoer; No one will then perish but the one who is already perished. وَإِنِّي لَشَرُّ النَّاسِ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءُ اهَانَتِهِمْ صَغَارُ يُصَغَرُ I may be considered to be the worst among mankind, If those who maligned me are not punished with humiliation. قَضَى اللَّهُ أَنَّ الطَّعْنَ بِالطَّعْنِ بَيْنَنَا فَذَلِكَ طَاعُوْنُ أَتَاهُمْ لِيُبْصِرُوا God has decided that a curse be responded with a curse; And the plague is that very curse.
