Chapter Eleven—Jesus Goes to India 143 Likewise Jesus’ tomb remained unknown to the world for nearly the same period of two thousand years, and it was only dis- covered by Ahmad, the Promised Messiah, the like of Jesus, and is now recognised, by hundreds of thousands, as Qabr Nabi Isa, i. e. , the tomb of Jesus, the prophet. This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in our eyes. Hazrat Ahmad, the prophet of this age, has discussed this question in detail in his book Masih Hindustan Mein (‘Jesus in India’), but, in view of the size of this booklet, I will only mention a few points concerning this discovery. The Lost Tribes of Israel The twelve tribes continued united under one head, mak- ing but one state and one people, till after the death of Solomon; then ten tribes of Israel revolted against the House of Israel, received for their King, Jeroboam, while only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin continued under the Government of Rehoboam (I Kings 12:16–20). This separation may be looked upon as the chief cause of those calamities that afterwards fell upon those two kingdoms, and on the whole Hebrew nation. Tiglath-Pileser, first carried away captives, the tribes of Reuben, Gad, Naphtali, and half the tribe of Manasseh; that were beyond the Euphrates (II Kings, 15:29; 1 Chron. 5:26). Some years after, Shalmaneser, King of Assyria, took the city of Samaria, destroyed it, took away the rest of the inhabit- ants of Israel, carried them beyond the Euphrates, and sent other inhabitants into the country to cultivate and
