Footnote from page 15 1 ٭ At this juncture, this peculiar incident is noteworthy, that one time I had the occasion to go to Aligarh and, due to men - tal fatigue—a bout of which I had suffered sometime earlier in Qadian as well—I was unable to engage in prolonged conversa - tion or perform any task requiring mental exertion. Even now my condition remains the same as I do not have the strength to speak excessively or think and deliberate beyond a certain extent. In this condition, a maulaw i of Aligarh—Muhammad Ismail by name—met me and, with the utmost humility, he requested me to deliver a sermon, saying that people had been eager to see me for a long time and it would be better if they gathered in one house while I delivered a sermon.
