Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad started his address by reciting the Tash'ahud (affirmation that God is One, without partner and that Mohammad is the messenger of God), the Ta'awwuz (the traditional formula for seeking the protection of God against Satan), and Surah Al-Fatihah (the opening chapter of the Holy Qur'an). .
