Understanding S al A t 46 True believers are only those whose hearts tremble when the name of Allah is mentioned (8:3) ________ O _________ َ وَبِحَمْدِك and all praise is Yours Tasb īh (saying Sub ha nall a h ) is a foundation for Ta h m ī d (saying Al h amdulill a h ). It is important to remove any imperfections from our minds before we can reflect on the perfections of Allah Almighty. That is why the words ‘holy are You’ ( َ سُبْحَانَك ) come before the words ‘and all praise is Yours’ ( َ وَبِحَمْدِك ). Hadrat Mu s le h Mau‘ ū d ra said, In extolling the holiness of God, only being free from imperfection is mentioned. However, explaining the attributes of God only up to this point is not suffi- cient for a person who is at a higher stage of reflec- tion. For a complete mind, it is necessary to express the attributes that affirm His qualities.
