Jilsah 5 The Imam then says All ā hu Akbar again, at which he and the congregation raise their heads and then their hands from the ground and go into the Sitting posi- tion called Jilsah. When sitting in this position, the worshipper spreads his left foot horizontally on the ground and rests on it while his right foot is placed on the ground in a perpendicular position, with the toes facing the Ka‘bah. The hands are placed on the thighs with the fingers pointing towards the Ka‘bah, very close to the knees. In this position, the following supplication is recited silently: ( S al ā t-The Muslim Prayer Book , pp. 45) ْ رَب ِّ اغْفِرْلِي ْ وَارْحَمْنِي ْ وَاهْدِنِي ْ وَعَافِنِي ْ وَاجْبُرْنِي ْ وَارْزُقْنِي ْ وَارْفَعْنِي My Lord, forgive me, and have mercy on me, and guide me, and grant me health, and make good for me my shortcomings, and provide for me, and raise me up.
