But to return to the story. The people had assembled over the roof. Hadrat Khalifatul Masih ra had arrived. They had prepared for him a place somewhere in the middle. But he declined to stand there, and took his stand in the northern part of the roof, the part which had been built by the Promised Messiah as himself. 9 Standing there he began his speech. He said that the question of Khilafat belonged to the Shariah i. e. 9 The Masjid Mubarak was in the beginning very small in size. When, after the announcement of his claim, people began to come and settle in Qadian, and the Community increased in numbers, the mosque was extended with the help of subscriptions raised from the Community.
