This term, says the Holy Prophet, shall be followed by that of tyrannical imperialism, a period of hacking and harrying. This description is exactly applicable to the period which begins with the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husain ( Allah be pleased with hirn} and heart. less pei'secut. ion of the members of the Prophet's family. Also Hazrat Abu Bakr's worthy grandson Hazrat Abdullah Bin Zubair fell a martyr during these days. It was during these days when the fiery sword of Hajjaj bin yusuf played havoc with the lives of thousands of innocent M~slims. This period undoubtedly presents a true spectacle of the tyrannical imperialism foretold by our Holy Master ( Peace of Allah be on him and His choicest blessings ever and evermo~ ); blood-smeared fangs of the savage beasts were no doubt engaged in tearing the righteous from limb to limb. This period of Islam is spread over hundreds of years and though was not as bloody as that of yazid bin Muaviya and Hujjaj bin yusuf, was nevertheless, on the whole, • a despotic and oppressive one during the course of which the conCf'ption of Islamic standard of ,administration was totally non-existent.
