In November 1925, an article was written by Gh a z i Ma h m u d Dharam P a l in a magazine called H an i f , in which he writes: I have read the articles written by Maul a n a Z afar ‘Al i Kh a n in support of declaring Ahmad i s disbelievers and apostates. The Zam i n d a r newspaper used to pub- lish such articles with much enthusiasm. Each and every word of these articles, like a double-edged sword, shattered my heart into pieces. As I have often announced, I am not an Ahmad i and I have honest differences of opinion with some of their beliefs. In spite of these differences, I consider them Muslims. I look at all their efforts, both inside India and abroad, to safeguard Islam against non-Muslim attacks, with great respect and esteem.
