H A D R AT M IR Z A GHU L A M AH M AD A S 23 the land, then understand that the promise of the spread of true religion has drawn nigh and that promise is: He further says that at the time of the manifestation of that prom - ise, the eyes of disbelievers will stare fixedly and they will say, ‘Alas for us! We were indeed heedless of this; rather, we were wrongdo - ers!’ In other words, the truth will become manifest in an extraor - dinary manner and the disbelievers will realize that they were in the wrong. The purport of all these verses is that in the Latter Days many religions will spread in the world and there will be many sects. At that time, two Christian nations will emerge and gain every sin - gle type of height. When you see that the Christian religion and Christian empires have spread in the world, you should know that the time of the fulfilment of this promise is close at hand. At another place the Holy Quran says: Meaning that, when the promise of God Almighty draws near, 1. He it is who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it ( S u rah a s - S aff, 61:10).
