In the event that I am proven to be true in my claim through heavenly Signs, there can remain no rea - son for denial, for it is heavenly Signs that have proven many a great Prophethood and Messengership and the divine origin of the Scriptures. Why, then, can the likeness of Messiah not be proven through them? In short, God will establish my truthful - ness the way He has been establishing the truthfulness of His true servants. Consider how many difficulties the Jews faced in accepting the Prophethood of Hadrat Mas ih , peace be upon him. It was recorded in the earlier Scriptures that ‘ I s a would come as a king, but the Messiah was born poor and destitute. It was written in the earlier Scriptures that with his advent, the Jews would regain power, and the Jews believed that he would wage war against the Roman Empire and re-establish the kingdom of Israel. But the actual events turned out otherwise, and the Jews suffered an even worse plight and debasement. Moreover, it was written in the earlier Scriptures that the Messiah would not come until Prophet Ily a s [Elijah] returned to the world. Hence, the Jews awaited Ily a s’ descent from heaven, but Elias did not descend. Nevertheless, Hadrat ‘ I s a , peace be upon him, laid claim to being the Promised Messiah and also pro - claimed that it was Prophet Ya h y a [ John the Baptist] who had come as Elias. But the Jews did not take a liking to this interpre - tation. Instead, they kept on waiting for the descent of Elias, just as the Muslims today are waiting for the descent of Hadrat ‘ I s a. But despite all these hurdles—which were severe indeed—God Almighty did not let His true Prophet remain unrecognised, and established his truth through many Signs. This necessarily led to
