تاریخ احمدیت۔جلد 23 83 سال 1965ء اختر حسین ملک کو ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کا خراج تحسین راولپنڈی جیل میں ذوالفقار علی بھٹو سابق وزیر اعظم پاکستان کی اسیری سے پھانسی تک مارشل لاء انتظامیہ کے نمائندے کرنل رفیع الدین اپنی یادداشتوں میں بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جناب بھٹو نے کرنل صاحب کو جنرل اختر حسین کے متعلق خراج تحسین پر مشتمل ریمارکس دیئے۔وہ ریمارکس اخبار دی نیشن نے اپنے ۵ دسمبر ۱۹۹۱ ء کے شمارے میں مندرجہ ذیل الفاظ میں شائع کئے :۔General Akhtar Hussain Malik I once asked him why in 1965 had the Foreign Office assured the President that India would not attack us if we launched the Kashmir Operation۔He said it was not the Foreign Office view which had estimated otherwise but in a joint meeting it was Field Marshal Ayub who overruled the possibility of India attacking Pakistan۔He added that the GHQ had also made the same mistake۔He was sure that if Gen۔Akhtar Malik's advance had not been halted at the Chamb-Jorian front he would have decimated the Indian army in Kashmir۔However, Ayub wanted Yahya to emerge as the hero of the conflict۔"Gen۔Malik was a General of exceptional genius۔He was a great commander, a man of courage and guts who understood the art of military strategy۔A General of his calibre has not been produced by the Pakistan Army۔ترجمه: جرنیل اختر حسین ملک: ایک مرتبہ میں نے ان سے دریافت کیا کہ دفتر خارجہ نے ۱۹۶۵ء میں صدر ( مملکت ) کو کیوں اس بات کی یقین دہانی کرائی کہ اگر ہم نے کشمیر مہم کا آغا ز کیا تو ہندوستان ہم پر حملہ نہیں کریگا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ دفتر خارجہ کا موقف نہ تھا بلکہ انہوں نے تو اس کے برعکس اندازہ لگایا تھا۔یہ تو فیلڈ مارشل ایوب تھے جنہوں نے ایک مشترکہ اجلاس میں انڈیا کے پاکستان پر حملہ کے امکان کو سراسر مستر د کر دیا
