۲۸۵ Hindu Krishna (Life, Feb۔7)۔He also boasted of his ability to fore- tell the deaths of his opponents, which accurred so consistently in accordance with his forecasts that the government finally forbade him to exercise his prophetic power۔But his teachings were liberal and pacifistic; Islam was to be propagated by precept, not by holy war, by missionaries, not by the sword۔After the death of Ahmad in 1908, his followers separated into two groups: the original Qadianis who supported Ahmad's claim to be a prophet, and the seceders, with headquarters at Lahore, who discarded this idea and formed a society for the propagation of Islam۔Today both branches engage in mission work around the world۔The Qadianis claim 60,000 converts in Africa, which they have made a special target۔For obvious reasons Islam is spreading wherever in the world the white man's prejudices about race and color seem to deny Christ's teachings of the fellowship of man۔Like Christianity and judaism, Islam began among the predominantly Semitic peoples at the south- eastern corner of the Mediterranean basin۔To day of the world's variegated Moslem populations۔The vast majority are enlisted from other ethnic groups۔About three quarters of them live in Asia and most of the remainder in Africa where millions of Negroes, represent- ing roughly one fifth of the native inhabitants, have already embraced Islam۔In some arears where Christian and Moslem mission- aries are in competition Islam gains 10 converts for every one who accepts the rival faith۔It is significant that in West Africa, Islam has come now to be regarded as the religion of the blacks as opposed to Christianity the religion of the whites۔(ترجمہ ) دنیا میں جس برق رفتاری سے اسلام پھیلا ہے تاریخ عالم میں اس کی کوئی دوسری مثال نہیں ملتی، بایں سمجہ اہل مغرب کے نظریات کے برعکس اس کی اشاعت محض اسلحہ جنگ اور تلوار کی مرہون نہ نتی یہ درست ہے کہ قرآن نے جہاد کی اجازت دی اور بہت سے لیے دین مشرکوں نے اس حال میں اسلام قبول کیا کہ اگر وہ ایسانہ کرتے تو انہیں اپنی مستی سے ہی ہاتھ دھونا پڑتا۔لیکن اس سے بھی انکار نہیں کیا جا سکتا، کہ مسلمانوں نے بالعموم عیسائیوں اور یہودیوں کے ساتھ رواداری کا برتاؤ کیا اور ان لوگوں کو مذہبی آزادی عطا کی جنہوں نے خراج یا جزیہ دینا قبول کر لیا۔پھر ایسے لوگوں کی بھی کمی نہ تھی جو اس لئے نئے دین میں داخل ہوئے کہ اسلامی عقائد کی صداقت ان کے دلوں میں گھر کر گئی تھی۔ے فاضل مضمون نگار نے اپنے ذاتی خیالات کے ماتحت ایسا لکھا ہے ورنہ اسلامی نظریہ جہاد کے مطابق یقیناً ایسا ہوا خود نبی کرم صل اللہ یہ تم اورخلفاء اربعہ کی زندگی میں ایسی کوئی مثال نہیں ملتی جس سے یہ پتہ لگتا ہو کہ سی بی مشخص وخفض اس لئے زندگی سے ہاتھ دھونا پڑا ، کہ اس نے اسلام قبول نہیں کیا تھا۔
