1898 411 plague might be checked. But the attention of the Government and physicians is also dependent upon the will of God. I have mentioned this purely out of human sympathy as this idea came to my mind with such force that I could not resist expressing it. [Ayy a mu s-S ula h , pp. 120–121, R uha n i Khaz a ’in, vol. 14, p. 320] March 25, 1898 I am puzzled by some of the dreams and revelations about myself. Twice I have dreamt as if I have been afflicted by the plague and the swelling has also appeared. Last night I had the same dream and there was also a revelation which indicated some pain or tribulation. The interpreters of dreams have sometimes interpreted plague [if seen in a dream] as meaning plague, sometimes as itching, sometimes as some punishment and trouble from Government officials, and sometimes as other mischief or affliction. I do not know what the interpretation of my dream might be. [Makt u b a t-e-Ahmadiyyah, vol. 5, part 1, p. 13, Letter dated March 25, 1898, addressed to Seth ‘Abdur-Ra h m a n of Madras] 1898 When the book Ummah a tul-Mu’min i n was published by the Christians, Anjuman-e- H im a yat-e-Isl a m Lahore, presented a memorial to the Government that the publication of the book should be banned and its author should be prosecuted. I was much opposed to this memorial and had published clearly in my writing that this was not a good way to proceed 448. But they did not accept my advice; 448 See Announcement of May 4, 1898, Majm u ‘a-e-Ishtih a r a t , volume 3, page 41. [Mirza Bashir Ahmad]
