218 1889 God the Almighty has determined out of His pure grace and special benignity to make the supplications of my humble self and the attention of my modest being a means of the appearance and emergence of their 244 pure faculties. His Holy Majesty has filled me with eagerness to occupy myself with strengthening the inner discipline of these seekers. [The Announcement of an Important Matter, March 4, 1889, Iz a la-e-Auh a m, part 2, p. 850, R uha n i Khaz a ’in, vol. 3, p. 562 and Majm u ‘a-e-Ishtih a r a t, vol. 1, p. 197] March 1889 Of the Signs that have been shown by way of prophecy, is the prophecy that I made concerning our brother Q adi D i a ’ud-D i n of Qazi Kot, District Gujranwala…which is that:… Q adi [ D i a ’ud-D i n], you would be confronted with a severe trial 245. I had also suffered from this weakness some time earlier in Qadian and I was not in a fit condition to carry on long conversations or to undertake any intellectual effort…. In Aligarh, while I was in this condition, a Maulav i of the name of Muhammad Ism a ‘ i l 244 People who have entered into the covenant. [Jalal-ud-Din Shams] 245 The Promised Messiah as made this prophecy when Q adi [ D i a -ud- D i n] took the pledge of bai‘at at Ludhiana. After that he faced a tribulation and the prophecy was fulfilled. This is narrated in a letter which he wrote to the Promised Messiah as. This letter is also included in Tiry a qul-Qul u b.
