(American Edition) 58 responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree;’ He said, ‘Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses. ’ Now whoso turns away after this, then, surely , those are the transgressors. ” (3 [ Ā l ‘ Imr ā n]:82-83) The following verse explains the above verse. (4) و َ عِیۡسَی ٰۡسی َُہُۡ و َ مِنۡک َ و َ مِن ۡ نُوۡح ٍ و َ اِبۡری ہِیۡم َ و َ مُو ِّی َٖ مِیۡثَاق ُۡہُۡ و َ اِذ ۡ اَخَذۡنَا مِن َ النَب َ ۪ و َ اَخَذۡنَا مِن ابۡن ِ مَرۡیَم مِیۡثَاقًا غَلِیۡظًا ۙ﴿﴾ “And remember when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from thee, and from Noah, and Abraham, and Moses, and Jesus, son of Mary, and We indeed took from them a solemn covenant;” (33[Al-A ḥ z ā b]:8) (5) َ ۡ م ن ِ اہ ی ِ تَد َ ی فَا ۡ نَمَا ی ِ ہ ۡ تَد ٖی لِنَفۡسِہ ۚ ۡ وَمَن ِ ضَل َ فَا َ نَمَا ی ۡ ضِل ُ عَلَی َ ہ ا ؕ َۡلَ و ُ تَزِر ٌ وَازِرَۃ ِ و ُ زۡرَا ی خۡر ی ؕ َِّۡی وَمَا کُنَا مُعَذِب َِت ی ح ۡ نَبۡعَثَرَسُو ۡلً ﴿ ﴾ “He who follows the right way follows it only for the good of his own soul: and he who goes astray, goes astray only to his own loss. And no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another. We never punish until We have sent a Messenger. ” (17[Ban ī Isr ā’ī l]:16) The following verse explains the above verse. (6) ٍ و َ اِن ۡ مِن ۡ قَرۡیَۃ ِاَو ۡ مُعَذِبُوۡہَا عَذَابًا ُمُہۡلِکُوۡہَا قَبۡل َ یَوۡم ِ الۡقِیی مَۃ ِۡل َ نَحۡن ۡ ا َ ِفِ ال لِک ی ؕ کَان َذ شَدِیۡدًا ب ِ مَسۡطُوۡرًا ﴿ ی کِت ﴾ “There is not a township but We shall destroy it before the Day of Resurrection, or punish it with a severe punishment. That is written down in the Book. ” (Banī Isra’ī l, 17:59) (7) ِِفِۡ یَوۡم ٍ کَان َ مِقۡدَا ۡلَۡرۡض ِ ثُم َ یَعۡرُج ُاِلَیۡہ ِٰلَ ا ۡلَۡمۡر َ مِن َ السَم َٓاء ِا َ یُدَبِر ُ ا رُہ ٗۤ اَلۡف سَنَۃ ٍ مِمَا تَعُدُوۡن َ ﴿﴾
