He enjoins on them good and forbids them evil, and makes lawful for them the good things and forbids them the bad, and removes from them their burden and the shackles that were upon them. So those who shall believe in him, and honor and support him, and help him, and follow the light that has been sent down with him — these s hall prosper. ” (7 [Al- A ‘ r ā f]:158) i. Moses prophesied the coming of Holy Prophet Mu ḥ ammad (may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) as a law - bearing prophet: God said to Moses: I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. (Deuteronomy, 18:18) This prophecy can be applied only to the Holy Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) since: 1. He claimed to be a prophet from among the brethren of the Israelites as he was from the children of Ishmael (may peace be on him) who was the brother of Isaac (may peace be on him); 2. He was “ like unto thee ,” that is, Moses (may peace be on him) because he was also a law bearing prophet; 3. He taught only that which was revealed to him (the Qur’ān ). The Holy Qur’ān has also called Prophet Mu ḥ ammad (may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) a Prophet like Prophet Moses (may peace be on him): ۤ ۡۡلًاِنَا ۤاَرۡسَلۡنَا فِرۡعَوۡن َ رَسُو ِٰلی ۡۡلً ۬ۖ شَاہِدًا عَلَیۡکُم ۡ کَمَا ۤاَرۡسَلۡنَا ۤا اِلَیۡکُم ۡرَسُو ﴿ؕ﴾ “Verily, We have sent to you a Messenger, who is a witness over you, even as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. ” (73 [Al- Muzzammil]:16)
