Matters of Dress 75. Hudhaifa, God be pleased with him, relates: "The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade us to wear silk and brocade. He also forbade us to eat or drink out of gold or silver vessels, saying that they are for them (the non believers) in this world, and for you in the Hereafter. " (Muslim) 76. Abu Sa'eed al Khudri, God be pleased with him narrates that when the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, wore a new dress, he would first mention what type of dress it was, for instance, turban, shirt or cloak, and then he would supplicate as follows: "Allah, Thine is the praise. Thou hast given this to me to wear. I beg of Thee the benefit that it contains, and beg Thee to help me to put it to the best use for which it was made; also I seek Thy protection against whatever harm there may be in it and against whatever harmful purpose it may have been made for. " (Tirmidhi) 55
