Admonishing the Aryas 55 مہےھتدولںےکادنےھوسوسدولںہپدنھپے ہ ےہ ی وہٰیبتجم � 1 ٭ رھپوھکےلسجےندنجے We were blind of the heart, with hundreds of knots upon the hearts; The one who opened the locks is this very Mujtab a —accepted one. … … وچومں ہفیحص ی را ت ےہ رہ دم � ہ ی � ی دِل ںیم ےہ ہ ی ں ےک رگد وھگومں ہبعک رما � آ رق My heart yearns every moment to kiss Thy Book; And to perform circuits around the Quran, for this is my Ka‘bah. … … Admonishing the Admonishing the A A ryas ryas ی وں دل ڑگب ایگ ی ا ےہ ویک ی ا ےہ ایک ی � 2 ٭ و ی اے آر� ےہ ہ ی ی ا � � ِ وھچڑو راہ وک ی وں ںیہن اِن وش� O A ryas! What is this! Why have your hearts gone astray? Discard these shenanigans—the path to modesty is the very same. ی وں اتسےت وس ارتفا انبےت ویک وہ وک ھ ب ح ُ م ےہ ہ ی رتہب اھت ابز آےت دوْر از الب � Why do you persecute me by concocting a hundred lies? It was better for you to desist, this alone will save you from catastrophe. 1. ٭ Here the meaning of janday [ دنجے in Punjabi] is lock. Since the intention here is not to demonstrate any poetic skill nor do I approve of this talent being applied to myself, it is for this reason that I have employed Punjabi words in a few places, and I don’t feel any [particular] need to use Urdu alone, the essential intent being to infuse hearts with fundamental truth. I have no concern with the artistic norms of poetic composition. (Author) 2. ٭ Bear in mind that I am not attacking the Vedas; I do not know what changes have been made in them. There are hundreds of sects within the A ryah lands which quote Vedas as source of their beliefs even though they are mutual ene- mies with violent disagreements.
