9 I gladly lay down My head, my life And every particle Of my body! Out of Thy grace and mercy Open for me the doors Of all kinds of knowledge And understanding of Thee, The Philosopher who seeks To find thou with the help Of reason and intelligence, Is really mad; For the subtle path Which leads to thee Is far removed from the reach Of all kinds of worldly wisdoms, No one ever succeeds In finding his way To Thy August Presence; And whosoever does so, He reached Thee only Through Thine own Boundless mercy and compassion, On those who love Thee, Thou bestoweth both the worlds; But in the eyes of these, Thy servants and slaves, Both the worlds stand
