1 A Review of the Debate between Maulav i Ab u Sa‘ i d Muhammad H ussain Bat a lav i and Maulav i ‘Abdull a h Chakrh a lav i by the Promised Messiah, the Divine Arbiter, and a Word of Advice for his Community Judging from the writings of the two parties involved, it appears that the basis for the aforementioned debate was Maulav i ‘Abdull a h’s contention that the hadith of the Holy Prophet saw ought to be discarded entirely. Similarly, he was guilty of such foul utterances that even to mention them is disrespectful. Conversely, Maulav i Muhammad H ussain articulated the propo- sition that if the hadith were considered to be so worthless, inau- thentic and unreliable, then the vast majority of [Islamic modes of ] worship and fiqah [Islamic Jurisprudence] would be rendered invalid, for it is the hadith alone that shed light on the precise details of the commandments of the Holy Quran.
