56 In the book Shar h u Fu sus il- H ikam, the following is written about the Imam Mahdi: ٍ مُحَمَّد ِّ َّۃ ِ تَابِعًا ل ي َكُوْن ُ فِی الَْحْكَام ِ الشَّرْعِ ي ُ َجِیْء ُفِي ْ اٰخِر ِ الزَّمَان ِ فَاِنَّہ ي ْ ِ اَلْمَھْدِی ُّ الَّذِی َاء ي ِ َاء ِ وَالَْوْل ي ِ ْع ُ الَْنْب ي ِ ْقَۃ ِ تَكُوْن ُ جَم ي ِ ْہ ِ وَسَلَّم َ وَفِی الْمَعَارِف ِ وَالْعُلُوْم ِ وَالْحَق ي ُ عَلَ هللا صَلَّی ْہ ِ السَّلَمُ. ي َرْنَاہ ُ لَِن َّ بَاطِنَہ ٗ بَاطِن ُ مُحَمَّد ٍ عَلَ ک َ ُنَاقِض ُ مَاذ ي َ ُلُّھُم ْ وَل ک ٗ ْن َ لَہ ي ِ تَابِع In the Latter Days the Imam Mahdi will appear. As far as the law of religion is concerned, he will follow the Holy Prophet Muhammad s as. And as far as knowledge and wis- dom are concerned, all other Prophets and saints will be subordinate to him. This does not contradict the asser- tion we made above. In fact, the Imam Mahdi’s and the Holy Prophet’s s as heart will be one and the same. ( Shar h u Fu sus il- H ikam, Sheikh ‘Abdur-Razz a q al-Q a sh a n i , p. 35, al-Ma t ba‘atul-Maimaniyyah, Egypt) So this is how the saints of the past, in the light of the Quran and the Hadith, describe the status of the Imam Mahdi. And Maulaw i Sahib not only declares the claimant of this status a liar, he goes further and even mocks him. Maulaw i Sahib! Please note, the earth can change its course, mountains can move, but the prophecies of our lord and mas- ter, Muhammad s as , cannot be frustrated. Thus, the Imam Mahdi enjoys the lofty station described above as he is the true copy of Hadrat Muhammad Mu st af a s as and his heart is the heart of Muhammad s as —truly beyond the reach of anyone’s imagination.
