42 second use is to refer to Gabriel as r uh because he is the one to bring the Divine Word, as is said: 1. ىٰلَع َكِبْلَق َنْوُكَتِل َنِم َنْيِرِذْنُمْلا۰۰ َلَزَن ِهِب ُحْوُّرلا ُنْيِمَاْلا۰۰ۙ 1 Part 19 S u rah ash Shu‘a ra’ , Ruk u ‘ 11— The Spirit (Gabriel), Faithful to the Trust, has brought down this Quran upon your heart so that you may warn the disobedient ones regarding their disobedience. 2. ْتَلاَق ْۤيِّنِا ْتَذَخَّتاَف ْنِم ْمِهِنْوُد اًباَجِح١۪۫ ۤاَنْلَسْرَاَف اَهْيَلِا اَنَحْوُر َلَّثَمَتَف اَهَل اًرَشَب اًّيِوَس۰۰ ُذْوُعَا ِنٰمْحَّرلاِب َكْنِم ْنِا َتْنُك اًّيِقَت۰۰ َلاَق ۤاَمَّنِا اَنَا ُلْوُسَر ِكِّبَر١ۖۗ َبَهَاِل ِكَل اًمٰلُغ اًّيِكَز۰۰ 2 Part 16 S u rah Maryam, Ruk u ‘ 2— Thus, Mary put up a screen between herself and the peo- ple. Then We sent (Allah says) Our r uh to her, and the r uh appeared to her in the form of a perfect man. Thereupon Mary said, ‘I seek refuge with the Gracious God from thee if indeed thou dost fear God. ’ (The r uh of God, Gabriel, said to her) ‘I am only a Messenger sent by thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a righteous son. ’ (This angel had come to convey the glad tiding. ) 3 Part 14, S u rah an-Na h l, Ruk u ‘ 14— ْلُق ٗهَلَّزَن ُحْوُر ِسُدُقْلا ْنِم َكِّبَّر ِّقَحْلاِب You say to them, ‘The Spirit of holiness (Gabriel) has brought it (this Quran) down from thy Lord step by step gradually and this Quran is accompanied with perfect 1.
