Hazrat Haaji Hakeem Maulavi Noor-ud-Din ra used to say that there was no one who obeyed him as much as the sons of the Promised Messiah as. Hazrat Haaji Hakeem Maulavi Noor-ud-Din ra had a deep love and affection for Mian Mahmud ra. He considered him to be the future of the Jama’at. He personally taught Mian Mahmud ra the meaning of the Holy Quran. He took great interest in his upbring- ing. Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad ra once related: Hazrat Haaji Hakeem Maulavi Noor-ud-Din ra would not let me read the text of the Holy Quran out aloud as I had a delicate throat. He would read it himself and then translate it while I just listened. He would then give a commentary on certain points. He also taught me the Hadith, and Haafiz Raushan Ali ra would join us in that lesson. Haafiz Sahib was very intelligent and would ask a lot of questions to which Hazrat Haaji Hakeem Maulavi Noor-ud- Din ra would give full explanations.
