Chapter 2: Pre-Birth and Infancy 31 any names that imply Shirk (any association of partners with Allah Almighty). Nursing Nursing (breastfeeding) is very clearly encouraged in the Qur ’ an: ۡ و َ وَصَیۡنَا الۡانۡسَان َ بوَالدَی ٗ ۚ حَمَلَتۡہ امہ ہ وَہۡنًا َ فصّٰلہٗ فیۡ عَامَیۡناَن وَہۡنٍ و عَلّٰی ۡ اشۡکرۡ لی َ و َ الۡمَصیۡر لوَالدَیۡک َ ؕ الَی “And We have enjoined on man concerning his parents, his mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years, Give thanks to Me and to thy parents. Unto Me is the final return. ” 2. 8 و َ الۡوَالدّٰت یرۡضعۡن َ اَوۡلَادَہن َ حَوۡلَیۡن کَاملَیۡن ٗ لمَن ۡ اَرَاد َ اَن ۡ یتم َ الرَضَاعَۃ َ ؕ و َ عَلَی الۡمَوۡلوۡد لَہ ٌ تکَلَفنَفۡس َ بالۡمَعۡروۡف ؕ لَا َ وَ کسۡوَتھن رزۡقھن َ َ وَالدَۃٌٌۢ بو تض َٓار وسۡعَھَا ۚ لَا الَا ٗ مَوۡلوۡدٌ لَہ وَ لَا لَدہَا بوَلَدہ ٖ ٭ و َ عَلَی الۡوَارث مثۡل ذّٰلک َ ۚ فَان ۡ اَرَادَا
