Thus, prior to him [Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih II aba ] becoming the Khalifah, the elders of those who rejected Khilafat as well as Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih I ra were convinced of the holiness, purity, and chastity of Sayyedna Hazrat Mahmood. After he was elected as the Khalifah, anyone from among those who envied him, as well as the hypocrites, slandering him or uttering calumnies against him is no cause for surprise since this has been the way Prophets, saints and the righteous have been treated by their opponents since time immemorial.
