CHAPTER 27 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Excellent Example of Marital life 678 Saudah ra felt that due to old age, the household chores were a burden for her and she no longer needed conjugal relationship, but still she yearned for staying married to the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. She herself requested the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa that she no longer wished to compete with the other wives and her only wish was that on the Day of Resurrection, she would be raised up amongst the wives of the Prophet. She said that she did not want separation from H u du r sa yet she gave up her turn for H u du r sa 's stay with Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa accepted her wish and continued to provide for her. 20 During the period in Mad i nah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa married a number of times for the sake of national requirements and training purposes. Although he had nine wives at one time, yet he was never stressed by these responsibilities and fulfilled all these duties efficiently, justly and with moderation. He looked after everyone. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa used to assemble all his wives after ‘A s r Prayer in the house where he was to stay and thus he was able to see them all daily. Even though every wife had her turn for H u du r sa 's stay after eight days, yet his love was so great, that each one of them was grateful for his Companionship.
