Muhammad sa The Perfect Man 49 Muhammad sa replied: "Only he who truly fights in the cause of All a h, who fights for the honour of the Kalimah and in order to establish the dignity of Tau hi d. " 27 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa established the dignity of Tau hi d by declaring that he would not fight even against his mortal enemy if he would profess the Unity of God. 28 In other words, the swords raised in self-defence will be sheathed in honour of the Kalimah. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa declared amnesty for his sworn enemy when he professed the Kalimah, and he forbade his Companions from attacking a dwelling from where the Adh a n (which includes proclamations of Tau hi d ) was heard. 29 Hadrat Miqd a d bin ‘Amr Kind i ra relates: I once asked the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa : "O Prophet of All a h, if I confront an enemy in the battlefield and he cuts off my hand, and then seeks shelter behind a tree and professes the Kalimah to save himself, would I be entitled to kill him?" The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa said: "No. You must not kill him. " I said: "O Prophet of All a h, he only professes to be a Muslim after he has cut off my hand!" The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa reiterated: "You must not kill him. If you do so, he will be counted a Muslim and you an infidel. " 30 Once during a battle Hadrat Us a mah ra was about to attack an enemy soldier when he
