" He then recited the verse: َ ﺣُﻨَﻔَﺂ ء ِِّٰ H َ r َْ ري ِ ِ ﻣُﺸْﺮ y َْ ني ٖؕ ﺑِﻪ ْ ُّوَﻣَﻦ ْ ﻳ ﺸْﺮِك ِّٰ ﺑِﺎH َ َ ﻓ { ﺎَمنََّﺎ َّ ﺧَﺮ َ ﻣِﻦ ِ اﻟﺴَّﻤَﺂ ء ُ ﻓَﺘَﺨْﻄَﻔُﻪ َّ ُْ اﻟﻄ ري ْ اَو َ ﺗ ِ ـ ْ ﻬْﻮ ی ِ ﺑِﻪ ِّ ْ اﻟﺮ ُ ﻳ ﺢ ِْ ىف ٍ ﻣ َ َﺎن ِ ْ ﺳَﺤ ٍ ﻴ ﻖ (22:32) "Remaining ever inclined to All a h, not associating anything with Him. And whoso associates anything with All a h, falls as it were, from a height, and the birds snatch, him up, or the wind blows him away to a distant place. " 17 Hadrat Farwah ra once presented himself before the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa and asked for a prayer which he should recite before going to sleep at night. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa told him to recite S u rah Al- K a fir u n , for he said it served as a protection against Shirk. 18 Hadrat Ab u M u s a Ash‘ar i ra relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa said: "Guard yourselves against Shirk , for it is even more difficult to detect than the footprint of an ant. One of the Companions asked, "How should we guard ourselves against it?" The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa said, "You can do so by praying: ّٰ َّ اَﻟﻠ ﻬُﻢ اِﻧَّﺎ َ ﻧَﻌُﻮْذُﺑِﻚ ْ ﻣِﻦ ْ اَن ِ َ ﻧُّﺸْﺮ ک َ ﺑِﻚ َ ْ ﺷ ﻴ ﺄ ﻧَّﻌْﻠَﻤُﻪ وَﻧَﺴْﺘَﻐْﻔِﺮَُﻠِﻤَﺎ َ ﻻ ُ ﻧَﻌْﻠَﻢ.
