He greatly honoured those who offered their lives in the cause of All a h, so that they were encouraged to offer sacrifices in future. In the battle of Khyber one Companion ‘ A mir could not survive the fatal wound from his own sword, sustained in fighting with a Jewish chief Mar h ab. Some people suspected that it was suicide and not martyrdom. His nephew was deeply upset on hearing this. The nephew, Hadrat Salamah bin Al-Akwa‘ ra relates, "I was in this state when I saw that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was holding my hand, and stroking it". He said to me, "Whatever is the matter with you?" I informed him about what other people were saying about ‘ A mir. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa said, 'Whosoever has said this is wrong. ' Then he joined his two fingers together and said, "’ A mir's reward is double. He was an excellent warrior in the cause of All a h. " 15 Compassion for the Helpers Ab u M u s a Ash‘ar i ra says; "The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa sent me with Ab u ‘ A mir to fight the battle of Aut a s. An arrow hit his knee and he was injured. When I pulled the arrow out, water oozed out. Ab u ‘ A mir told me,
