CHAPTER 18 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa as a Patron and a Great Teacher 412 night time, he woke F at imah ra and me for Tahajjud. Then he went back to his own house and offered Naw a fil for some time. During this time he did not hear any sound of our getting up so he came back and woke us up and told us to offer prayer. Rubbing my eyes I got up and muttered, ‘In the name of All a h, we can only offer the prayer which is destined for us. Our lives are in All a h's control and He can wake us up whenever He wishes. ’ The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa turned back and striking his hand on his thigh in astonishment, he repeated my sentence, that is, we can only offer the prayer which is ordained for us by God. Then he recited this verse. " َ َ و َ ِْﺎن ْ اﻻ َ ﻧ ُ ﺴ َﺎن ْ ا َ ک َ ﺜ َْ ﺮ ¨ٍ َء َ ﺟ ً ﺪ ﻻ " that is to say that man is quarrelsome. 2 Another tradition states that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa continued to walk by Hadrat F at imah's door, saying, "O members of the household, it is prayer time. " Then he would recite verse thirty three of S u rah Al- A h z a b , which states, "O Members of the Household! All a h desires to remove all impurities from you and purify you completely. " 3 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa made it crystal clear to his daughter F at imah ra and to all his relatives that he cannot benefit them at all before God.
