CHAPTER 2 A Glimpse of the Excellent Qualities of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 22 Holy Prophet Muhammad sa asked me to recite some of them for him. I recited a few and the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa asked me to recite more until I had recited nearly a hundred. " 60 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was not satisfied with mere artificial beauty of words; he rather sought deeper meanings in them. If there was anything he did not understand, he would ask for clarification. When the famous poet Nabghah Ab u Lailah presented himself before the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa and recited this verse: ْ َﻠَﻮ ﻧَــــﺎ اﻟﻌِﺒَــــﺎدَ ﻋِﻔَّــــﺔ ًوَﺗَکَــــﺮُّ ﻣًــــﺎ ْ ﻟَﻨَـــﺮ وَاِﻧَّـــﺎ ْ ﺟُﻮاﻓَـــﻮقَ ذٰﻟِـــکَ ﻣَﻈ ﻬَـــﺮا Having accepted Islam, we have attained higher status in piety and honour; What is more, we hope for Ma z har, where All a h will show our honour to the world. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa asked him what he meant by Ma z har. He said that it meant 'Paradise'. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa appreciated this meaning and said, "God willing, you will be granted this blessing. " The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa appreciated him and prayed for him. 61 Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra was asked if the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa ever hummed any verses. She replied in the affirmative and told of a verse written by one of his Companions ‘Abdull a h bin Raw ah ah:
