And further asked, "How many people have accepted this teachings so far?" He replied "A free man and a slave (i. e. Ab u Bakr ra and Zaid ra. Here H u du r sa has only mentioned the persons outside the family. ) He did not mentioned his wife Khad i jah ra and a young child, ‘Al i ra. ‘Amr ra accepted Islam. He claimed that he was probably the fourth among men to do so. Then he enquired from the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa if he should stay in Makkah and act on his teachings. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa told him to go back to his people and follow the teachings. H u du r sa further told him to return when he would hear about migration. " 6 Hadrat ‘Amr bin ‘Ambasah ra acted exactly as he was advised. He stayed steadfast on Islam while living in his own area. After the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's migration he came to Mad i nah and benefited from his company. In the early period, a salient feature of preaching was its gradual increase. Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra relates that in the beginning elaborate S u rahs (which are relatively long) were revealed. These S u rahs contained description of Heaven and Hell. When a large number of people had accepted Islam, the commandments regarding lawful and unlawful things were revealed. If the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa
