Hadrat Anas ra relates that he had never seen the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa suffer so much grief at anyone's death as he did for the martyrs of Bi’r-e-Ma‘ u nah. For thirty days he would raise his hand in the last rak‘ a t of nam a z and pray for victory and support. 28 Another incident reveals the care which the Companions showed for the safety of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. Hadrat Ab u M u s a Ash‘ar i ra relates, while traveling with the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa we encamped for the night at one place. During the night I thought about the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa and I went to the place where he was staying. I did not find him there and started to search for him. Another Companion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa was frantically searching for him as well. Both of us were looking for him when we saw him coming towards us. We said, "O Messenger of All a h, you are in the enemy territory and in an area of war. We are worried about your personal safety. For God's sake if you require to go somewhere, you should ask your Companions to accompany you". The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa replied, "Actually an angel of God came and gave me a choice between half of my Ummah entering paradise and the right to intercede. I requested the right to intercede as I realized that this would result in more of my Ummah being forgiven. Then a choice between two thirds of my Ummah
