CHAPTER 2 A Glimpse of the Excellent Qualities of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 12 He would pray upon waking up in the morning and in the evening; when entering the house or going out; when entering or leaving the mosque; when entering or leaving the lavatory; before meals and afterwards; while going to the market and before embarking upon a journey; in every situation he turned to God and prayed to Him. When he sat among people, he would offer Istighf a r seventy times. 14 In times of anguish, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa would recite: َ ﻳ َُّ َﺎ@ ُ ﻳ ُّ ﺎﻗ ْ ﻴ ُ ﻮ م "O Living and Self-Sustaining God" as an expression of humility. In a crisis, he would look towards the heavens and say: َ ﺳُﺒﺤَﺎن اﷲ ِ ْ اﻟﻌَﻈ ُ ﻴ ﻢ "Holy is All a h, the Great. " Upon sneezing, he would say in a low voice: ُ ِاَحلَﻤﺪ ّٰ ﻟ ﻠ "All praise belongs to All a h. " And when he heard someone sneeze, he would say: َ ْ ﻳ َ ﺮ محَُک ّٰ اH "May All a h have mercy on you.
