CHAPTER 7 The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's Deep Love for the Holy Quran 132 Hadrat Ubayy bin Ka‘b ra recited the Holy Qur’ a n for the Companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa , everyone was in tears with emotion. H u du r sa was also present and said that this moment of shedding tears should be utilized for prayer as this tenderness of heart is a blessing from God. 20 On listening to the word of God, the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa would be in an emotional mood and would start to shed tears. One day he asked Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin Mas‘ u d ra to recite the Holy Qur’ a n for him. While reciting he came to the verse: َ ْ ﻓَﻜ َ ﻴ ﻒ اِذَا ْﺟ ِ ْﻨَﺎ ِّﻣِﻦ ُﻞٍۭ ِاُﻣَّﺔ ْ ﺑِﺸَﻬ ٍ ﻴ َّﺪ ِو َ ﺟ ِ ْﻨَﺎﺑ ٰﻚ َٰۤ َ ﻫ ِ ﺆُﻵ ِء ْ ﺷَﻬ ﻴ ﺪًا. (4:42) Which means; "And how will it fare with them when We shall bring a witness from every people, and shall bring you as a witness against these. " H u du r sa could not restrain himself anymore. A constant stream of tears started from his eyes. With the gesture of his hand he told him to stop reciting. 21 Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Umar ra relates that the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa heard someone reciting this verse of S u rah Al-Muzzammil (73:13) َّ َاِن ْ ﻟَﺪ ﻳ ِﻨَﺂ اَﻧ ْ َﺎﻻًوَّﺟَﺤ ﻴ ﻤًﺎ "Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire". On hearing this he fell down unconscious. 22 Hadrat Ab u Hurairah ra relates that once he had the chance to spend the night with the Holy Prophet Muhammad sa. H u du r sa started the
