Muhammad sa The Perfect Man 109 glorification of God. The Holy Prophet Muhammad sa 's S al a t was the embodiment of thankfulness to God. It started with, "All praise belongs to All a h," in the middle was َ ّٰمسَِﻊ ُْ اﻟﻠ ملَِﻦ محَِﺪَہ more praise for All a h, and its latter part ِ َّ اَﻟﺘَّﺤ ُ ﻴ ّٰﺎت ِ ﻟِﻠ was the comprehensive praise for All a h. His Ruk u ‘ and Sajdah were full of praise for All a h, when he would proclaim, "O All a h! Holy are You with all Your attributes". 7 On standing up this praise would be like a surging sea. He would say, "O All a h! All praise belongs to You. " In his endeavour to offer more praise he would say, "So much praise that it would fill the heavens and the earth and everything else that You wish would fill with this praise (meaning Your praise is limitless). "O the Being, worthy of Greatness and Praise, however much praise we offer You, You are worthy of it and we all are Your servants. " 8 Besides the obligatory prayers, his Nafal prayers had such fervour for thankfulness that he would spend the whole of the night in prayer. His feet would swell due to standing up for such a long time. Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah ra said to him, "Why do you strive so hard?" His beautiful reply was َ َاَﻓَﻼ اَکُﻮْن ﻋَﺒْﺪًا ﺷَکُﻮْرًا. "Should I not be an extremely grateful servant of God?" 9 After his S al a t which was full of love of All a h, he would still pray ّٰ َّ اَﻟﻠ ِّْﻬُﻢ ٰاَﻋِىن ََ َذِکْﺮک وَﺷُکْﺮک َوَﺣُﺴْﻦ ﻋِﺒَﺎدَﺗِک "O All a h! bestow upon me the capacity to remember You, be grateful to You and offer
