BARAKAT AHMAD has been educated in the disciplines of law, linguistics, literature and history. He received his Ph. D in Arab History from the American University of Beirut and was awarded a doctorate in literature by the University of Tehran. Before his appointment as India's High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago Dr Barakat Ahmad was Adviser to the Indian Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly (1970- 74) and dealt with the Arab- Israeli issues in the U. N. Special Political Committee. Dr Ahmad has travelled extensiv~ly in the Muslim world from Jerusalem to Djakarta and Lagos to Mogadishu.
