Glossary 56 Khalifatul-Masih or Khal i fatul - Mas ih ( خَلِیْفَــة ُ الْمَسِــیْح ) a title conferred on the spiritual successors of the Promised Messiah as. Khilafat or Khilafat ( خِلَفَــت ) an institution led by a supreme spiritual head known as the khalifa. Sharia or Shar i ‘ ah ( شَِیْعَــہ ) literally ‘path’ or ‘way’. The word sharia is often used with reference to Islamic law or the various duties and obligations of Muslims. Umma or Ummah ( اُمّــة ) the global community of Muslims. Uswa-e-hasanah or Uswa - e - h asanah ( حَسَــنَہ اُسْــوَہ ) excellent model of conduct.
