79 ٌ فَقَد ْ سَرَّنِي ْ فِي ْ ھٰذِہ ِ الصُّوَر ِ صُوْرَة 1 َحْشُرُ٭ ی َ کَان ْ کُلَّمَا َ رَبِّي َدْفَع ی لِ Under these circumstances, there was one way out of the many at hand that drew my attention; So that God my Lord may put down the unrest created by Sanaullah. ْ ْدَتِي ی ِ فَأَلَّفْت ُ ھٰذَا النَّظْم َ أَعْنِي ْ قَص ُ َهْذِر ی َ ْ کَان َّ مَن ْ کُل ي ِّ َ رَب لِیُخْزِي I composed this poem, namely this qa si dah of mine, So that my God may heap disgrace upon all those who vituperate. ِ ْ سُؤَالِه ِ فِي إِصْرَارِہ عَلٰی وَھٰذَا ُ أَنْهَر َ ْف َ بِهٰذَا السُّئْل ِ أُغْضِي ْ و ی َ ك فَ And I have composed it as Sanaullah insisted upon it; How could I ignore such a persistent plea and how could I reproach the one who made it? ٌ ْمَة ی ِ ْنَا فِي الْجَوَاب ِ جَر ی وَلَيْس َ عَلَ ُ َبْذُر ی َ َکْل ِ مَا کَان ْأ فَنَهْدِي ْ لَه ُ کَال And I cannot be blamed for my response to his plea; I am only presenting to him the fruit of what he had sown. ْ بِمِثْلِھَا َأْتِي ی فَ ُ کَذَّابًا ْ أَك فَإِن ُ وَإِن ْ أَك ُ مِن ْ رَّبِّي ْ فَیُغْشٰی وَیُثْبَر If I am a liar, he will succeed in composing a qa si dah like the one I have composed; But if I am from God, his mind will be rendered unproduc - tive and he will not be allowed to put his plan into action. 1. This couplet was revealed by Allah the Most High—may His glory be exalted. (Author).
