16 January 1907 109 16 January 1907 A Hadith Regarding the Promised Messiah as Today, the Promised Messiah, peace be on him, went out for a walk. On the way, Maulaw i Sayyid Muhammad Ahsan F ad il of Amroha pre- sented two sentences from a Hadith narrated by Nawas ibn Sam‘an… that is recorded in the footnote of Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal. One sentence is, 1 ُ َْرْض اَل تُقْبَض ُ لَه ُ ا ُ َْرْض اَل تُقْبَض ُ لَه ُ ا meaning that, the earth shall be rolled up for the Promised Messiah [distances shall be made easy to be covered] which points towards the railway and steamship, etc. Accordingly, books and magazines are being published in Europe, America and other such countries for the propagation of Islam using these very means. The Promised Messiah, peace be on him, said that, Without doubt ِ َْرْض اَل ُّ ا طَي ِ َْرْض اَل ُّ ا طَي —rolling up of the earth—has not occurred for any appointed one from Allah before this, nor did such means appear before. The second sentence from this hadith that the Maulaw i Sahib pre- sented was, 2 ٗ ُوْن ُ لَہ ٗ اَرْفَع ُ قَدْرًا و َّ یُعْظَم ُ مَسُّہ ك َ مَن ْ مَّس َّ ابْن َ مَرْیَم َ ی ٗ ُوْن ُ لَہ ٗ اَرْفَع ُ قَدْرًا و َّ یُعْظَم ُ مَسُّہ ك َ مَن ْ مَّس َّ ابْن َ مَرْیَم َ ی. Meaning that, who- ever will touch the Promised Messiah, his value will be adjudged by God Almighty to be very high; and his touch and contact, meaning, 1.
