190 With Love to Muhammad sa the Kh ā tam-un-Nabiyy ī n َّ ﻣُﺤَﻤ وَﻣَﺎ ُ اﻟﺮُّﺳُﻞ ِِ ﻗَﺒْهل ْ ﻣِﻦ ْ ﺧَﻠَﺖ ْ ﻗَﺪ ۚ ٌ رَﺳُﻮْل َّ اِﻻ ٌ ؕﺪ َ ﻣَّﺎت ْ اَﻓَﺎ۟ﻳِٕﻦ ٰٓ ﻋَىل ُْ اﻧْﻘَﻠَﺒْمت َ ﻗُﺘِﻞ ْ اَو ُْ ؕاَﻋْﻘَﺎﺑِمك 197 َْ اﻟْﺨُـدل َِ ﻗَﺒْكل ْ ﻣِّﻦ ٍَ ﻟِﺒَرش ﺟَﻌَﻠْﻨَﺎ ؕوَﻣَﺎ 198 اكَﻧُﻮْا وَﻣَﺎ َ اﻟﻄَّﻌَﺎم َ ايَْلكُُﻮْن َّ ﻻ ﺟَﺴَﺪًا ْ ﺟَﻌَﻠْهنُٰﻢ وَﻣَﺎ َ ﺧٰدلِِﻳْﻦ 199 To conceive of Jesus as alive in the face of these verses, and to believe, contrary to the purport of the verse: َ اﻟﻄَّﻌَﺎم َ ايَْلكُُﻮْن َّ ﻻ ﺟَﺴَﺪًا ْ ﺟَﻌَﻠْهنُٰﻢ وَﻣَﺎ 200 that Jesus is alive in heaven like the angels, without the need of food, would be to turn away from the Holy Word of God. 201 I again affirm that if Jesus is alive in heaven in his physical body, then the Divine Reasoning set out in one of the above verses—that if the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of All ā h be upon him) were to 197 ‘Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him. If then he die or be slain, will you turn back on your heels?’— Ā l-e-Imr ā n, 3:145 [Publisher] 198 ‘We granted not everlasting life to any human being before thee. ’—Al- Anbiy ā ’, 21:35 [Publisher] 199 ‘And We did not give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they to live forever. ’—Al-Anbiy ā ’, 21:9 [Publisher] 200 Ibid. 201 What is more is that the Qur’ ā n clearly states, “ َ اكَان ِ ايَْلكُٰﻦ َ اﻟﻄَّﻌَﺎم ؕ ” (Jesus and his mother used to eat) in S ū rah Al-M ā ’idah, 5:76, and this clearly means that Jesus as does not eat anymore and, therefore, he is dead!
