HEAVENLY TESTIMONY as 338 inquiries they recognize the holy face which they had seen in their dreams as that of the Promised Messiah as. Does not all this furnish us with new confirmation of the truth of Ahmad as , derived in the clearest manner from indisputable and unexpected quarters? In May 1892, Ahmad as wrote a booklet entitled Nish a n-e- A sm a n i. 70 In this publication he drew attention to the heavenly testimony of a few witnesses in support of his claims. Kar i m Bakhsh of Jamalpur, district Ludhiana, most emphatically and repeatedly declared on oath that Gul a b Shah, a local saint who died about 1861, told him that Jesus as , the son of Mary as , was dead and that the prophecy regarding his second advent was to be fulfilled through Ahmad as of Qadian who, he said, had attained to maturity by that time (so he had) and that the mullahs would disbelieve in him. Another testimony was that of Ni‘matullah, a great saint of India, who lived in the suburbs of Delhi about 560 A. H. His prophecy is found in a book which was printed on 25th of Mu h arram, 1868 A. D. Its title is Arba'in f i A h w a lil Mahdiyy i n. Ahmad as also referred to the increasing number of people who were daily writing to him of their visions and revelations in which they were told by the Holy 70 It covered about 40 pages and was printed at the Riy ad -e-Hind Press, Amritsar, in June 1882. Sayyid Tafa dd ul Husain Tahsildar of Aligarh, Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan of Malerkotla, Hakim Fa d l D i n ra of Bhera, and Maulaw i N u r D i n ra contributed towards the cost of its printing and distributed hundreads of copies at their own expense.
