On this I got up disappointed, because the members of the Jam a ‘at who were outside were so enthusiastic that they were about to break open the doors and were continuously saying, “We cannot wait any more as the Jam a ‘at is without any leader and you people are not resolving the issues”. Finally, I said to Maulaw i Sahib, “We deem it necessary that there should be a Khalifah. So you can do as you please, but we are going to elect a Khalifah after seeking advice from the people. ” Then I got up and the meeting ended. Establishment of the Second Khilafat After ‘ Asr prayer, Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan read the will of Hadrat Khalifatul Masih I ra and requested the people to nominate his Successor. All of them unanimously proposed my name, and thus, the second Khilafat was established. I heard later that Maulaw i Muhammad Ali also stood up at that time to say something, but someone pulled his coat and asked him to sit down. All this happened according to the will of Allah, the Almighty. He appointed whomsoever He willed as the Khalifah.
