~ 7 ~ Isl ā m encourages marriage when someone reaches the age of puberty. No Room for Celibacy in Isl ā m In Isl ā m, there is no room for celibacy at all. Bachelor life is discouraged, even condemned, in Isl ā m. Holy Prophet Mu ḥ ammad (peace and blessings of All ā h be upon him) says in this regard: Ibni ‘Abb ā s (May All ā h be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy prophet Mu ḥ ammad (Peace and blessings of All ā h be upon him) said, “There is no room for celibacy in Isl ā m. ” (Ab ū D ā w ū d, Kit ā bul-Man ā sik) On another occasion, the Holy Prophet Mu ḥ ammad (peace and blessings of All ā h be upon him) placed great stress on this aspect of Isl ā mic teachings, and instructed his companions to strictly follow him in every walk of his life. He says in this context,
