8 Unity of Universe Attention could be drawn to various texts, which affirm the unity of creation proceeding directly from unity of the Creator. Again, only one text need be cited here: Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things; Who has created death and life that He might try you — which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving. Who has created seven heavens in harmony. No incon gruity canst thou see in the Gracious God. Then look again: Seest thou any flaw? Aye, look again, and yet again, thy sight will only return unto thee confused and fatigued. ( Ch. 67: Vs. 2 - 5 ) The unity and accord of the universe derive from the unity of God: If there had there been in them (the heavens and the earth) other gods beside Allah, then surely both would have gone to ruin. Glorified then be Allah, the Lord of the Throne, above what they attribute. ( Ch. 21: V. 23 ) Were it not for the unity of God, all would be confusion and conflict not only in the universe but even among the claimants to or partners in godhood.
