ISLAM AND MODE RN LIFE 14 man may say, yes, I accept the authority of the Quran, I accept that the Prophet was a righteous man, I accept that God says so. Why does God say so? What good will it do me if I do this? What harm will it do me if I don’t? And the Quran explains any const raints. For that it was necessary that the Hikmah , the philosophy behind the teachings, should also be made plain, so that intellect being satisfied, the motive power for conduct and action, should be created inside man.
