73 most certainly provides it for them. In fact, this is something He has taken upon Himself and no one else has a part in it. He says: 4 َّنِا اَنْيَلَع ىٰدُهْلَل The guidance of mankind is something that God has made obligatory upon Himself i. e. He himself provides all the means for it. The Holy Quran does not only prescribe the providing of guid - ance according to the need of time, it goes further and says that had there not been such a provision, people would be entitled to ask God on the Day of Judgment as to how He could hold them accountable and punish them when He had not sent them any Messengers? Allah says: َو ْوَل ۤاَّنَا ْمُهٰنْكَلْهَا ٍباَذَعِب ْنِّم ٖهِلْبَق اْوُلاَقَل اَنَّبَر ْوَل ۤاَل َتْلَسْرَا اَنْيَلِا اًلْوُسَر َعِبَّتَنَف َكِتٰيٰا ْنِم 5 ِلْبَق ْنَا َّلِذَّن َو ىٰزْخَن And if We had destroyed them with a punishment before appointing the Prophet they would have surely said, ‘Our Lord, why did You not send to us a Messenger that we might have followed Your commandments before we were humbled and disgraced?’ God does not reject their objection but acknowledges it. In fact, it is reiterated in various other places in the Holy Quran that God considers it cruel and unjust to punish a people without having sent to them a Messenger. He says:
