Before the battle had begun, when the one-on-one challenge was taking place, Hadrat Ab u Bakr ra displayed his extreme loyalty and high level of sacrifice. His son, ‘Abdur-Ra h m a n, appeared from the side of the disbelievers, and challenged any of the Muslims to duel. Hadrat Ab u Bakr ra unsheathed his sword and asked the Holy Prophet sa for permission to fight, but the Holy Prophet sa did not grant it.
